Cluster amaryllis, Higan-bana in Japanese

Cluster amaryllis this year

Cluster amaryllis in 2009

Around the autumnal equinox week (O-higan in Japanese), cluster amaryllis comes out of the field and delight our eyes and tell us it’s time of O-higan.

This plant spreads by rhizome and it seems they have been very active this year as we find much more flowers than previous years.

Please compare the photos taken at the same place and time of 2009 and 2011.
